Set Fire to the Rain

I'm absolutely in love w/ this song from Adele's newest album, "21."
It's gorgeous and I cannot stop listening to it!

I
let it fall, my heart
And as it fell, you rose to claim it
It was dark and I was over
Until you kissed my lips and you saved me
My hands, they were strong, but my knees were far too weak
To stand in your arms without falling to your feet

But there's a side to you that I never knew, never knew
All the things you'd say, they were never true, never true
And the games you'd play, you would always win, always win

But I set fire to the rain
Watched it pour as I touched your face
Well, it burned while I cried
'Cause I heard it screaming out your name, your name

When laying with you I could stay there
Close my eyes, feel you here forever
You and me together, nothing is better

'Cause there's a side to you that I never knew, never knew
All the things you'd say, they were never true, never true
And the games you's play, you would always win, always win

But I set fire to the rain
Watched it pour as I touched your face
Well, it burned while I cried

'Cause I heard it screaming out your name, your name
I set fire to the rain
And I threw us into the flames
When we fell, something died
'Cause I knew that that was the last time, the last time

Sometimes I wake up by the door
That heart you caught must be waiting for you
Even now when we're already over
I can't help myself from looking for you

I set fire to the rain
Watched it pour as I touch your face
Well, it burned while I cried
'Cause I heard it screaming out your name, your name
I set fire to the rain
And I threw us into the flames
When we fell, something died
'Cause I knew that that was the last time, the last time, oh
Oh, no
Let it burn, oh
Let it burn
Let it burn

Brokeback Memories

A poem I wrote in grade 9 based on Brokeback Mountain.
I will have you know that, sadly, this is the best poem I've ever written (or will ever write, for that matter...).

There once was a cowboy named Jack,
He needed a job and packed up his sack.
He met a hot cowboy named Enes,
Up Jack's ass went Enes's [censored LOL]

In the norn, Enes rode away.
Waiting for him, Jack did stay.
When noon came round, Jack did go
To herd sheep by the river flow.

Jack was riding and saw a bear,
The man was startled, and ran did his mare.
He fell upon the rocky ground,
He went to camp, Enes was 'round.

Took care of Jack's wounds is what he did,
Not able to contain the feelings they hid.
They stayed together, lovers they were,
Until the end of that steaming summer.

Jack returned to Texas and found a wife,
Enes returned to his, they made a new life.
Jack sent him a card one year,
And went to Enes to be near.

When Jack arrived at his home,
Enes pushed him 'gainst a grain-filled dome.
His wife did see, it broke her heart,
But from Enes, she could never part.

He Told her they were going on a fishing trip,
But they went to Brokeback to skinny dip.
They held each other close and tight,
Until the end of that beautiful night.

The next day, the two returned.
They went their ways, but secretly yearned,
To meet each other every year
On that mountain that they held so dear.

On Enes's return from a night of romance,
His wife left him for getting into Jack's pants.
Into a new home he did go,
And farther from Jack he did grow.

He kept it secret from family and friends,
And as much as he loved him, with Jack, he could never make amends.
The messed each other every minute of every day,
Yet knew from each other, they had to stay.

Then the day when they met once again came,
On Enes, Jack did put the blame.
"I need you Enes, you need me too.
I wish I knew how to quit you."

The held one another in a loving embrace.
"We can't keep this up Jack, we're so out of place."
Parted once again did the two men,
Not knowing they would never meet again.

As Enes picked up the phone, he almost knew,
That his lover, Jack, his time was through.
Yet although he knew, he could never believe,
The life of Jack Twist, he could not retrieve.

And so the story ends, as Enes visits,
He sees his shirt; he couldn't miss it.
He leaves the house on Jack's parents' farm,
Wishing he could hold Jack in his arms.

62 Days!

62 DAYS TIL EUROPE!!!

I am so psyched to finish school (4 weeks!) and be done with SFU for good.
I have my application for Kwantlen all ready, just need to send it this week.
Hopefully I get into the program!

Also got a new job at Suzy Shier in the mall.
Love it so far... way better than my last job.
Why? Different kind of customer, nicer & better quality clothes that I actually like, organized, and I like my co-workers! (Although I did like 3 of the girls from Fairweather)

This means I get to save up money which I haven't been able to do.
Which makes the opportunity of being an au pair more attainable.
Plus, I have been talking with a German family for the past month or so... so you never know.

I'm really just in need of some adventure!
Europe, you can't come fast enough.

Life, you're a very confusing thing

As I stood at the kitchen counter speaking to the cream cheese container that would not open, I thought "Meaghan, what do you REALLY want to do with your future?"

Answer: No clue.

I see my mail in the kitchen this morning and with it came the package I had requested a while back for information on a TESOL course. I opened it and looked over everything. Just when I thought I knew what I wanted to do!
Herein lies the problem with this: If one wants to teach in Europe (which, obviously, refers to me), then one must have a Bachelor's degree as well.
This would mean that I'd have to continue with university, something I DO NOT want to do. AT ALL.
Like I've mentioned, I want to do something more "hands-on." I don't want to spend what will probably amount to 5 years of my life writing papers on topics that don't interest me and spending my parents' well earned money on schooling that I'm just not happy with.
So... graphic design.
This seems to be the most promising and most realistic choice so far.
Let's hope it works out.

Scratch that... different change!

AHHHHHHHH! Once again, alison has made a huge ass mess in my mom's bathroom so i am stuck hearing my mom's shrill voice NON-STOP for who knows how long because she doesn't know when to stop. OMG make it stopppppp. make my sister leaaaaaaave.

ANYWAY...

Upon further evaluation, i realized that bakers make NOTHING so, as much as i love it, why spend like $6000 on something that won't get me far? so i'll prob stick to doing it as a hobby or on the side in the future.
As of now, i've looked up a few other things and my top choice is graphic design at BCIT. I know i can make more doing this, i know i like it, and i have experience.
So that'll probably be the more realistic route.
However, if anyone is willing to pay for cupcakes... hey, i'll make 'em!
lol

i sogni di italia

Damn, Under the Tuscan Sun is on.
See the problem with this movie is that it totally depresses me.
Why? Because I would kill to be able to have my own little country house somewhere in Italy.
Oh, dreams, dreams, dreams...
So, of course, I looked up ones for sale just to see. And to weep over. LOL
So here are some pics of some that I love.

A change is gonna come

... or perhaps it's already been made.

I've always thought of myself as the shy and quiet type.
Entering university, I realized that wasn't really the case. I loved meeting new people and I've become a lot more talkative with new acquaintances, something would would usually take quite a while. I guess I've accepted my personality for what it is and have that idea of "I am what I am."
God, even taking italian was a random and spontaneous action for me.
I mean, I'm going on a tour of Europe in May alone!
I won't know anyone at all but, strangely, I'm really not worried about that. A few years ago... maybe even one... there would've been absolutely no way I would've done that. But I did & because of that, I have the opportunity of going on a non-stop adventure.
Plus there's this idea of being an au pair. A step even farther than just going on a tour alone.
I think I've really just decided to do things that may have formerly been out of my comfort zone. I want to have great experiences and adventures.
So here we come to a very big and significant change. I think it's pretty obvious that I absolutely love to bake. One of my ultimate dreams is to own my own little bakery. Right now, I'm taking history in university. I've known for a while that this whole university thing was not what I wanted to do... after my first semester I've just been unhappy. My moms response is always "you were the one who wanted to go to university." Really, I did it to make my parents happy. In all honesty, writing papers and being made to take courses I don't want to take just because they're the only ones available just isn't doing it for me. So tonight I brought up going to pastry school. I've brought it up before but wasn't taken seriously. This time around though, I think my dad is considering it. I think he notices that I'm not happy where I am now. My mom pulled that same response again and said "what are you going to be able to do with that?" Classic parent response, isn't it? Like I'd be able to do oh so much with a degree in history... at least there's nothing I'd WANT to do. I told her it hurts that she didn't take this seriously. She knows that I don't like being in university and, as much as I think this may disappoint her, I'd rather spend my life doing something I love. Will it be easy? No. Will I be rolling in the dough? No... well, literally I guess I would be. LOL. But will it be worth it in the long run? I'd like to think so. I've already looked into it and found a program at VCC, so...

Why not do something I love?

To Build A Home

I don't think it's possible for me to ever get tired of this song.

Patrick Watson's voice.
The Piano.
The Strings.
The Words.

It's such a haunting yet beautiful melody...
Gives me goosebumps everytime.

To Build A Home

There is a house built out of stone
Wooden floors, walls and window sills
Tables and chairs worn by all of the dust
This is a place that I don't feel alone
This is a place that I feel at home

And I built a home
For you, for me
Until it disappeared
From me, all over you

And now, it's time to leave and turn to dust

Out in the garden where we planted the seeds
There is a tree that's old as me

By the cracks of the skin I climbed to the top
I climbed the tree to see the world
When a gust of wind came to blow me down
I held on as tightly as you held onto me
I held on as tightly as you held onto me

And I built a home
For you, for me
Until it disappeared
From you, all over me

And now, it's time to leave and turn to dust

Update

So first I'll do an update for the weight thing using kinect.
I haven't been using it the past couple of weeks due to a crazy illness but I'm getting back to it today.
Last time I checked, I've lost 3 pounds!
LOOOONG way to go.

Second is my trip.
As of thursday, I will have paid it all off.
Then it's down to 99 days!
GOODBYE TRIPLE DIGITS!
So incredibly excited, you have no idea.
Still don't know which excursion to choose... it's between:

Jazz River Cruise in Prague
Cooking Class in Rome

I was going to do the cooking class but now I don't know because it's $115 while the cruise is $65.

Finally, the whole au pair thing.
I honestly don't know.
I've been in touch with a Czech family and the mom seems very nice.
My issue is that, if I do choose to do this, I want to be 100% sure the family is legitimate and that I have a clear contract with them. Want all my bases covered.
If it happens, it happens.
But I'm not getting my hopes up.

Mamma mia!

Ciao le mie amiche,

Devo scrivere un articolo per il mio corso della storia ma sono troppa stanca.
E' molto noioso.

Mia madre cucina la cena... i spaghetti!
Devo cenare.

Arrivederci!

that was pointless but i was so entirely bored i resorted to a short and uninteresting blog in italian.

So far...

I've had a total of 7 positive responses on the aupair site:

1 Greek
4 Spanish
1 Irish
1 Czech

Sent 3 of the ones I liked the most emails... now it's just waiting to see if any contact me back.

Hmmmmm....

Oh, au pair

Oh no... the idea has dug itself into my head yet again:

Becoming an au pair.

It would be such an AMAZING experience!
Living abroad for a few months.
Meeting new people and gaining new friendships in different countries.

So I registered on a site that someone had told me about.
I'd be ecstatic if any of the families I've favourited contact me about this summer.

I know I'm already going to Europe after school in May, but I'd love to extend that experience.

Going Viral...

... only not in the way you're thinking.

No, I haven't posted a video of myself on youtube and gotten a million hits.

I physically have a virus.

Ever since 2am last tuesday I've been fighting the norwalk virus.

DAMN!

It hasn't been fun.
Can't have dairy, can't have caffeine, can't have raw veggies... pretty much can't have A LOT of things.

Why? because my stomach is not digesting everything properly.
This lovely problem results in my being extremely nauseous.

YAY!

Only not.

Falling behind in schoolwork... I have soooo much to catch up on.

BLEH!

T Minus 115 Days

So all i can say is thank god it's the beginning of them semester bc i've missed 3 classes this week.
I'd say this has probably been the worst stomach virus i've had since pneumonia in grade 5. That's saying something.
I've been sick soo much this school year, it's ridiculous. I'm thinking maybe it's this medication i started taking last sem so i'm stopping it for a while to see if it makes any difference. I've missed way too much school and i need to step it up this sem so being sick will just not do!

On a lighter note, my trip is almost paid off!
I'm so excited, you have no idea.
