#25 Tell us about the last book you read.
Atm, I'm reading Apartment 16 by Adam Nevill
Bit of a slow start but it's gotten better.
Pretty creepy actually.
Takes place in a London luxury apartment building where number 16 has been left vacant for about 50 years.
Apparently #16 is a gateway to something evil but I haven't gotten that far yet.
There's some damn creepy people/things/whateverthehellthey'resupposedtobe in it.
#26 Name one place you would love to visit one day.
Venice.
Going in May.
Hellz to the yes.

Insane
Quit my job today.
Must find new one to pay for my trip!
Had no choice though, my new manager was awful.
You know when you get that vibe that someone doesn't like you?
Yea, well I had that and boy, was I right.
She's only been working at our store for a few weeks and has had only 2 shifts with me.
She had given me 4 hours next week which is ridiculous.
So I start my shift today, I'm in the middle of the store folding clothes and she comes up to me and starts attacking me saying I'm "not an asset to the company" and "should find a new job" and that "noone likes [me]."
Okay... yea, so THAT'S why I've been working with the company for a year and a half and no one's complained about me or fired me. Totally full of shit.
So I went into hysterics, called my last manager - who was disgusted - called my mom to pick me up and left.
There's more shit that happened but don't feel like typing all of it.
Short story is, she's horribly unprofessional.
Who needs to deal with that at work? No one.
So I emailed the district manager to let her know that I wanted to give 2 weeks notice but there's no way I would think of going back after that.
She was trying to convince me that I was still an employee and should go back for my shifts but pretty much said hellllz to the no am I going back there with that person running the store. It's worse than being in highschool. Honestly.
So there ya go, that was my day.
Not a happy one but in a way I'm relieved I got out of such an unhealthy work environment.

#23 Your opinions on Lady Gaga.
Overrated.
Albeit she's talented, good voice, good dancer and all that jazz.
I do like most of her singles.
But I think this whole thing about "individuality" is more her being an attention-getter. She was born into money... she was rich even before she became famous. Nothing to complain about there.
When it comes to the point where you wear a meat dress at an awards show... really? Too far.
Plus she's always wearing insanely high hats/hairdos so the ppl behind her can't see!
A little consideration, please.
#24 Tell us about the las movie you saw in theatres...
Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows, Part I
Genius.
Best one of the series yet.
In my opinion, it stuck to the book far more than the others and, to me at least, that's important. Because it's the books most of us love.
Absolutely cannot wait for the next, and last, movie.
The story most of my generation grew up with is about to come to an end...
& that is just plain sad.

OOPS... Christmas is just more important than blog challenges!
#19 The initials of your crush(es).
Don't have one.
#20 Do you wear glasses? If so, what for?
Yes, since I was 2.
I wear my contacts more often though.
& I don't actually know what they are for... LOL.
I was diagnosed when I was 2, so don't remember.
#21 Your fav subject to study.
History or Italian.
#22 Do you play a sport? If not, tell us about a hobby.

FORGOT AGAIN! lol
#17 Thoughts on Ugg boots.
They're cute? They're comfy? They're ridiculously overpriced for what they are?
Yep, yep, & yep.
I get the knock-offs because, let's face it, I'm not gonna spend over $100 for boots that aren't leather.
#18 Do you drink soda more than milk?
No, I drink milk everyday.
Healthy bones! Lot's of calcium! =)
I do not drink POP - yes it's pop, not soda, here on Canada's west coast - everyday.
However, I do drink too much pop. Agh.

#16 Favourite Disney movie.
BEAUTY & THE BEAST ALL THE WAY!!!
I know and love all the songs.
I'm pretty sure that's because they were thrown at me since I was a toddler.
Apparently, when I was 18 months old or something & sick, I made my mom put it on repeat for an entire night.
No surprise it is still, and will always be, my fav. disney flick.
Pure genius.

#13-#15
Woops! forgot so now i'm catching up again...
#13 Thoughts on Mean Girls.
It's OK.
Nothing special in my opinion but I guess it's still entertaining.
#14 Do you have siblings? What do you think of them...?
Yes, 2 sisters.
Alison is my younger sister and she is a pain in the ass most of the time.
We rarely get along but when we do I guess we have a good time.
She's a bit of a brat though, to tell the truth.
Vanessa is my older sister.
I get along with her a lot better than I get along with Alison.
However both of them get whiney at times.
#15 Your favourite junk food.
Oooooo, boy.
In terms of drink, it's coke.
I love coke more than any other type of pop.
It's fizziness will be my downfall.
With food... chocolate, chocolat, cioccolati.
In any language it sounds delish!
Mmmmmm, nothin' beats good ol' chocolate in my opinion.

#11 Your top three favourite bands.
1 Maroon 5
2 OneRepublic
3 Coldplay
I don't know what to say... I love them all!
From the moment I heard "This Love" on the radio in grade 7, I've been in love with Maroon 5. Both concerts have been fantastic. They have a different sound to them and Adam Levine's voice is amazing.
I think I heard OneRepublic for the first time during a routine on so you think you can dance. I immediately looked up "Apologize" (the original not the Timbaland one that came out later) and couldn't stop listening to them. I have to say that their concert was hands down THE best concert I have ever been to. Ryan Tedder is extremely talented and, it must be said, incredibly attractive when he's performing, haha. I love the piano and the strings. They create perfect music for me to sing along to. =)
Coldplay... well, they're Coldplay. I still need to get parachutes but I have the other albums. And I still need to see them live since EVERY TIME THEY COME IT SELLS OUT BEFORE I EVEN HEAR THEY ARE COMING!!! Ahhhh, drives me insane. Love "Rush of Blood to the Head" btw.
#12 Your thoughts on Harry Potter.
I freaking love Harry Potter and I do not feel ashamed to admit so.
Incredible books, amazing movies... that's what I call storytelling at its best.
You have magic, humour, love, violence, evil... everything.
I'm a fanatic reader. I have tons and tons of books. But I think those will always be my favourite.
That's a series that will never get old.

#10 Talk about your pets.

I have the best little doggy ever!
His name is Timo and he's a bichon frise.
He's white a fluffy and adorable.
He has an amazing personality that completely meshes with our family.
He loves giving kisses and having his ears rubbed.
He has this strange love of sitting in the closet and is now afraid to go up the stairs because we had hardwood put in.
He has a snuggie but it doesn't fit him properly.
When he gets his treat he shakes paw.
I love him. <3
We also have a beta fish named Bubbles.
He is insane.
He watches you when you're in the kitchen.
And he gets excited when you open the cupboard bc he knows hes getting food. weird, right?
My mom talks to it... my god.
I also used to have a cat named Ernie.
She was absolutely perfect.
We called her a little princess bc she was so dainty.
She was the kindest cat I've ever come across.

#8 Are you a fitness guru or a couch potato? blah blah blah
I am a filthy, fat slob.
LOL.
#9 Favourite meme...
Once again, internet talk has confounded me.
Yes, confounded. Thank you, university education.
WTF IS A MEME?!?!
On a separate note, my dog received a christmas card in the mail.
MY DOG.

#6 Your favourite season, and why.

Well, before I probably would've said spring...
but I've realized that my favourite season is winter!
Why?
Christmas.
& with Christmas comes the lights, the decorations, the music...
& it gives me the excuse to bake A LOT!
Plus, I love the snow (as long as it doesn't keep me stuck on top of a mountain, which is where my stupid school is). It makes everything seem more peaceful and beautiful.
I get a few weeks off of school in the winter too, obviously. Which is a nice break.
There's also the fact that I get to think up creative presents for my family.
It sounds lame, but being able to buy/make gifts to give to people is a great feeling.

#5 Tell us your three favourite colours.
Turquoise
Orange
Hot Pink
yyyeeaaa...
& when does this "challenge" become interesting?
lol I don't know if I'm supposed to write some lame little poem or something about the colours to make this interesting.
I'm not going to though, don't worry.
Poems are for yuppies who say "Oh, that's so deep" and spend hours staring at paintings of dots and lines trying to figure out what it "means."
It means that the painter can draw dots and lines & make $$$$ for doing so.
Ok, so apparently I've made apparent my hate for those type of people LOL.
This was probably made worse when I took that history of film class and was surrounded by artsy snobs with sticks up their bums.
The only kind of poetry I like comes from Dr. Seuss or music lyrics.
Sooooo... those are favourite colours.

#4 Tell us about your closest friends.

Hmmm...
One I see all the time.
We are very similar and very different at the same time.
She's my movie, starbucks, school, and, well, pretty much anything buddy.
She's my best friend.
The next two I rarely see because they've moved on to different things and people but I know they will always be there.
One is sweet and kind.
Artistic and sensitive.
Should focus more on herself, she deserves it.
One is unique.
Goofy and outgoing.
Needs to stop spending all her money on her wardrobe LOL.

#3 Your favourite television program.

OOOOO hard one b/c i watch way too much tv lol.
Top 4 would be true blood, vamp diaries, supernatural, & glee.
Guess I'll pick true blood.
AWESOME HBO SHOW!
It has a great story line, great actors, effects, and vampires!
In my defence, I loved vampires back in the Buffy days when I was younger so I was way ahead of this new trend.
True blood is like grown up twilight... only better in every way.
It's dirty, it's bloody, and it's free of corny shit (ex. every line/effect in twilight)
Plus it has Alexander Skarsgard LOL.
Oh, boy. Do I ever like him...

#2 Talk about your piercings or tattoos, if you have any.
Just have my ears pierced.
Twice in bot ears.
Thinking about getting my nose pierced but not sure yet.
& that is that.
Rather boring question for me to answer.
Have to start studying for finals today... my first one is on Thursday at 8:30am.
Joy of all joys.
Our house is all decorated now which has brought on the Christmas spirit.
Since I've spent all my $$$$ on the trip in May, I've thought up some inexpensive creative gifts. Got pretty much all the stuff I need for them.
ANYWHOOOO, enough procrastination from moi. Onward I go to study.

Ok, swiped this from Gabbi b/c i am le bored.
#1 Your middle name & how you feel about it.
Well, my middle name is Larisa.
I used to hate it but now I love it.
It's different and it refers back to my Russian roots
Urban Dictionary says Larisa is...
"a nice person, great friend, amazing girl. She is a really special person. She is creative, funny, she loves music and movies. She will never let you down."

167 days
167 DAYS!!! lol, still pretty far off but clooooooser!
Made the first payment for my trip today; oh lawd, goodbye $$$! How I will miss thee...
All I can say is, better get that raise at work because I am gonna need it.
It was snowing and gorgeous last week.
Then it rained... and rained some more... and continued to rain.
Arrivederci short-lived snow.
And our Christmas lights are now up. YAY!
I love Christmas! Can;t wait to decorate the tree this weekend.
This is my last week of classes and my finals end on the 15th.
Here's hoping I'll do well!
Next semester should be interesting... chose my classes on the 24th.
I have 2 profs I had this sem for humanities and history courses and another Italian course + a distance ed history course.
Atm, I'm feeling like crap.
Pretty sick and nearly fainted on the skytrain to school.
Stuck on the couch, my dad is making me watch one of those concerts on Detroit Public Television. Ack!
Don't mind the concert... it's Rain, the Beatles tribute band. Pretty good... watching the weirdos in the audience is fairly entertaining.
It's the part where they flip to the telephone lines and the guys talking about making donations. The ones for this one are exceptionally bad. Keep stumbling over every second word and those segments are SOOOO long. Shut up, already!
Anywho, that's all for now... nothing exciting.
Still raining.

Oh, Christmas... can't you come sooner?
I have officially finished my papers for this sem and I want it to be overrrr!
I can't wait for all the decorations to be up. They make the house seem so much cozier than it normally is. I love decorating the tree while listening to christmas music playing in the background. And seeing all the lights outside sparkle when it's snowing... it's the best.
Here's hoping the next few weeks fly by!

Stepping out of my comfort zone!

OK! I've decided what I'm doing about my dire need for travel.
Since I can't find anyone to fully commit to going on an independent trip to Italy in May, I am going to book a tour! Going solo is a bit intimidating, not going to lie, but I can meet tons of new people on this tour. =)
I'm gonna be travelling with the college version of the same company I used for my Paris, Provence, & Barcelona trip in highschool: EF.
I'd be spending most of the money I have but it will be worth it. Travelling is what I've always wanted to do and Europe is amazing.
I'd be going for 17 days in May to:
Amsterdam
Berlin
Prague
Munich
Venice
Florence
Rome
The most important location for me was Italy, Venice in particular. Hence why I chose this specific tour.
Cannot wait! Should be an amazing experience!

Thanksgiving!
Thanksgiving means...
PUMPKIN PIE!!! WOOOOO!!!
Attempt # 1: made 2 pumpkin pies by following the recipe on the can of pure pumpkin. this was one of those times when i should've trusted my instincts. the can said i should add 1 1/3 c. of milk... MILK, and a lot of it. it didn't seem right to me (b/c it wasn't) but i did it anyway and they didn't cook at all b/c they had no substance! completely runny. threw 'em out.
Attempt #2: made 2 this morning... still in oven but the consistency makes me think these ones will work out b/c i used EVAPORATED MILK. yay! knock on wood they work out.
Thanksgiving also means turkey, mashed potatoes, and gravy!
YUM!
the downfall of this time of year? midterms
stressing me oooouuuutttt but hopefully i do reasonably well.
HOPEFULLY
also, my lovely little sister is going on a cruise that was free w/ her friends family. they are going to the caribbean. so while i'm doing midterms on the top of a stupid mountain, alison will be on a huge luxury boat in the caribbean.
great.

GLEEK
AHHHHHHH!
so happy glee has started again!
the first episode was good, but i was a bit disappointed in the little amount of music.
the britney spears episode this week though... completely amazing!
i had a smile on my face the whole time.
heather morris needs more lines and more solos.
can't wait for next week!

A whole lotta nothin'
wow, haven't written in this in a looooong time.
so, san fran...
long car rides. but, luckily, on the way down we had some gorgeous views along the oregon coast and the california redwoods. the road back, however, was SO BORING! ahhh
anywho, it really is a cool city. love pier 39... it had theee best candy store ever. it made me fall in love with razzles (13 going on 30, anyone?). i've never seen them here but maybe i'll be able to find them somewhere. o, pier 39 had some cute sea lions as well.
what elsssseeee.... went to alcatraz. we did the night tour and it creeped the heck out of me. we got to go into the old hospital area and some of the rooms were pitch black. that, along with seeing all the old medical equipment and knowing that ppl had died there, made it the scariest area. we also went to d-block after the tour & listened to one of the guides talk about one of the former prisoners. having 3 floors of empty cells in front of me (the ones directly in front solitary confinement so pitch black), the darkness and the wind howling outside the windows behind me, i nearly shat myself.
hmmm... the food was pretty good there but i'm so tired of restaurants. lots of seafood (i'm not a fan, so i ate crabcakes bc that's all i like... i don't want to see another crabcake ever again). plus ghirardelli square with its yummy chocolate!
i don't know what else to add other than it was pretty fun.
so got home from that and school started the next week.
so far it's already better than second sem of last year THANK GOD! bc last sem sucked.
OOO cds!
linkin park came out last tuesday (sept 14)
verdict: fairly different from their other albums but still good. there are a couple songs i'm not a fan of but the rest have grown on me.
top songs: waiting for the end, irredescent, the cattalyst
maroon 5 came out this tuesday (sept 21)
verdict: obvs i love this band. in my opinion, this one's better than the second one. it's kind of the middle ground b/w the first and second albums, so it's closer to their old sound. pretty damn good.
top songs: they are all good but... stutter, hands all over, how, runaway
kings of leon comes out oct 19th!

School Frustration to San Francisco
Ooooooh, choosing university courses sucks.
Going into my second year at SFU and the second year enrollment date was ridiculously late meaning I got none of the classes I wanted.
I ended up w/ a women's studies, humanities, and history.
I WAS enrolled in a French course but it was for grade 10 french or less... while i got an A in grade 12 French. So I had to drop that particular class leaving me w/ only 3 courses. My issue w/ French is that, since I haven't taken it in over a year b/c I couldn't get into it first year, I forget everything... so if I start where I left off it would most likely be a train wreck.
So I've waitlisted for a communications class (I'm in 91st position... AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN) and a beginners Italian course b/c what the heck. I'm hoping that it really IS beginners or else I am screwed indeed.
In better news... trip to San Fran! WOOHOO!
Cannot wait to visit Alcatraz at night... maybe I'll have a ghostly encounter! haha
On our way there, we are visiting the Oregon coast and the California redwoods. The towns we are staying in are old and very quaint with little boutiques and victorian-style building and whatnot.
Really looking forward to it!

Italia, per favore!

So I have budgeted every expense and have an Italy plan!
Hopefully, if my cousin is able to go with me, we will be headed to Italy in May. This means I have to definitely save up... but, in a surprise twist, my parents have offered to pay some of my travel expenses bc my mom does not want me taking a cheap airline. That makes me very happy. lol =)
Anywho the plan is to go to...
Rome w/ possible day trip to Sperlonga
Pisa
Florence w/ day trip to either Siena or Volterra (Twihards will envy me HAHA)
Venice
Verona
Milan w/ day trip to Como
Venice and Florence are the ones I'm looking forward to the most! And eating yummy gelato everyday.
Fingers crossed this is going to happen!

Why I love the Ricky Gervais Show
Karl Pilkington on camels:
"They were good years ago in the Jesus times and that... don't need them now, know what I mean. We've moved on."
On too many similar species:
"If I was Noah, I woulda gone like: hang on a minute, I've just seen something that looks a bit like this... let it drown. Have a clear out."
Genius.

Opportunity?

So, I've been interested in doing an exchange with school. I have just looked into it and, apparently, one of the places I listed on my places to visit in the UK has a university I could do an exchange with: the University of Bath.
I will talk to an adviser to see if I'm eligible for Fall 2011 because that's when I'd really like to do it.
Hopefully, if I am eligible, my parents will be all for the idea.
I've looked up traveling to Europe and considering the places I want to go, it will take me some time to save up the money. Taking that into account, I think doing an exchange w/ school would probably be my best chance of getting there in the near future.

HELL YEA SPAIN!

WOOOOOO SPAIN! 2010 FIFA WORLD CUP WINNERS!
NED 0 - 1 ESP (Iniesta)
Finally, a team I was rooting for from the very beginning made it all the way!
Such a frustrating match... soo many close calls, a ridiculous amount of free kicks, and a stupid amount cards.
I am incredibly happy right now though. Thank god for Iniesta- who I had been getting frustrated w/ bc he always seems to get in a good scoring position and then passes it and misses the chance- & I feel horrible for poor Torres! He's such an amazing player and he just didn't get a chance this time bc of that damn injury. Ramos had a bunch of chances too that he unfortunately didn't make... it really sucks. But Villa has been insane this whole World Cup... he truly is a great player.
VIVA ESPANA!!!!!

HAY you!
So I got up this morning and walked into the kitchen to make myself a cup of tea. I'm half asleep as I look out the window and see a horse (which just neighed btw) in the field behind our house and behind the elementary school. Clearly, it's there for the kids but it was a strangeee sight to see in the morning. Now the kids started running out for recess, saw the horse, and stopped dead in their tracks haha. The first person A saw come out of the school was my mom with the little boy she's an SEA for... so that was weird as well. Then the rest of the kindergarteners came out to see the horse. It's very large and very pretty... but still odd.

I love...
... joyofbaking.com!!
Since I have not been getting enough hours at work I've been stuck here at home doing NOTHING, so I began to bake.
1 - choco cupcakes
2 - banana bread
3 - pumpkin loaf
The first 2 came out tasting amazing! And an added plus to the first 2... actually all 3 now that I think about it... is that they are all dairy free so my sister can have them. The cupcakes and banana bread were perfectly moist and delectable! YUM! As for the pumpkin loaf, it's still in the oven so we'll see. I had to half the recipe since it makes 2 loaves and I didn't want to waste ingredients if it ended up tasting horrible. Fingers crossed that it's as yummy as the first two recipes!

Oh, the impossible dream...
... to travel around Europe. Why oh why does my dream destination have to be sooo darn expensive?! Really, if I end up being a teacher I doubt I will make enough money to do what I want to do. Therefore, I must marry a rich & successful man! Well, maybe not... but it would be a bonus if he was! ahaha. I MUST BE INDEPENDENT AND FORGE MY OWN PATH TO RICHES! (Cue "Independent Woman"- Destiny's Child) I know what you are thinking: Meaghan, why is it called destiny's child when there are 3... should it not be destiny's children? Ok, maybe that's just what I was randomly thinking. Where was I even going with this post... nowhere it seems. What else is new? AH-HA! Europe! Yes, despite the fact that I now have snippets of destiny's child playing in my head, I have remembered that I was going to share a list! O GOODY, ANOTHER LIST! AHHH!!!
Someone please send me a lifetime supply of tylenol!
Yesterday, my stupid sister stole my moms new shows and broke the new mirror my dad bought her. The result? My mom, like always, went balistic.
Apparently, because my parents don't know how to deal with her, she didn't learn her lesson and took something else this morning.
So now I once again cannot go upstairs simply because I don't want an even bigger headache from the deafening sound of insane people yelling. AGH!
Please teach my ungrateful 15 year old sister a lesson and get my mom some valium so I don't have to deal with this! Completely insane!lol it's totally ridiculous
ANYWHO... just started watching the last little bit of a walk to remember on tv and it ALREADY made me cry. Damn movie always does that to me haha. Speaking of this amazing tear-jerker of a movie... what ever happened to shane west?! I know he was on er for a bit but seriously why has he not been in anything for such a long time? And same w/ mandy moore... I loved her! She's perfect for these teen chick flicks!
Yet another completely unrelated topic... I love this song! lol it's called "i'm with you" by the stills. You may have heard it in the alexander keith's commercial a while ago. Good music w/ good lyrics.
The timing is right
And the light is soft
We've come from far
And we came here lost
We're moving east
We're rolling through
If you believe in me
I'll believe in you
I'm with you
If you want me to
The night is...
Explosive highs
To breakneck lows
Every mirror in
The house has broke
The moon is red
And the sky is green
In the loneliest place
You've ever been
I'm with you
If you want me to
The night is...
A darkness shines
Through my airplane
Purple and bright
On my window pane
Be close to me
Be where I am
Where the wind is hard
Where the wind is hard
I'm with you
If you want me to
The night is blue

Spartacus!
Oh, shawondemand, i love how you let me watch whole series for free.
That's how i was able to start watching true blood, aka best show ever if a tad dirty, and that is how i found spartacus: blood and sand. such an amazing show! all about gladiators in ancient rome. i have to wonder though... why, in every movie/show, set in ancient rome do they speak w/ a british accent?? anyway, since it's about gladiators there's a lot of blood and gore and the fighting is done a little bit like 300. it's really a lot like watching a 13 part movie. yes, it surpasses true blood when it come to overall dirtiness haha, but the storyline is very interesting and so are the characters. added bonus? muscly men walking around in every scene LOL.def. give it a watch!

... a blog?
Sooooo... a blog... hmmmm... I really have nothing interesting to say! haha
I guess an explanation for the weird/lame name? All references to beauty & the beast, aka the BEST disney movie of all time! I was randomly thinking about it because the other night my older sister, mom, and I were sittign around the table after dinner and belting out celine dion (my mom being a tad tipsy) lol. Anywho, that led to me playing my disney cds bc she sings the theme song to beauty and the beast... fascinating.
Went to see letters to juliet w/ amanda last night. entertaining yet corny. an example of this cheese factor? well there are many, but i will share my fav one (notice how i have stopped using capital. i am too lazy to bother pressing shift.)... she all the sudden appears on the balcony (BLECH) and is talking to the guy down below and he slowly moves closer to the balcony. at this point i whisper to amanda - if he climbs a freaking vine, i swear to god. of course this is what happened next and then he fell off. she runs down to him and says - are you ok? can you move? and theeeen his reply... which ranks amazingly high on the rictor scale of cheese... - i can move my lips. OMG SERIOUSLY?!?! lol ooo boy, that one got us laughing.
Just got back from the dentist... glad i didn't get the same hygienist as last time. the last one was awful. she poked and prodded my gums in the one area and it was inflamed for like a month afterword and hurt like hell. teeth still sore from this time around though. family was hungry, so after the 30 min wait to eat we got mickey d's lol. perfect meal after leaving the dentist for sure ;).
I'm missing my shows atm. supernatural may be over for good (i think it should be just bc you can't top ending to apocalypse), vamp diaries is over (which means NO DAMON! BOOOOO!), lost went out w/ a disappointing finale, and true blood hasn't started yet! that show is AMAZING even if some scenes seem to be close to soft core porn LOL & i hate how it's only on during summer.
ANYWAY... apparently i did have stuff to say (although, admittedly dull and unimportant haha).
